And then there are those moments…
Here’s today’s nougat
But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to hearken unto you rather than unto God, judge ye: Acts 4:19
So not only add re we required to recognise when we are being tempted to go against God’s will and purpose (not always so easy, especially when we’re going against the popular actions), but we also are required to speak out IN LOVE about what is happening round about us.
Now, we are reminded that some things are good to declare, but not all things are expedient. Or, in good Jamaican parlance, “A no everyting good fi eat, good fi talk!” Sometimes, we need to prayerfully ponder our response to situations placed before us.
Peter and John already know what their actions would be. No two questions about it. They know that they shall arise and go forth, declaring the good news, for even in prison God has conquered every foe by God’s matchless name.
In posing their actions as a rhetorical question, they have reduced the potential for argument to their declaration of intent.
When the time comes, I pray that we’ll be armed with the appropriate response (perhaps seasoned with spiritual salt), and ready to hearken unto God.
Guidance!
