In the midst of the chill, the sun sneaks in, adding warmth and hope where once there was none.

Hello my friend, here’s today’s nougat

I will bless the Lord at ALL times, his praise will continually be in my mouth. Psalm 34.1

The psalmist”s declaration sounds daunting at first glance, almost as though there’s a note of braggadocio aimed at those lesser mortals who don’t bless the Lord always.

But what if the psalmist understood the secret to maintaining equilibrium and keeping that God- relationship pon even keel? If the writer was David, we know that he had moments when his heart was full and he cried out to the Lord. Matter of fact, almost any of the psalmists had experienced the many vagaries of life.

But; blessing God always (even while at war with the church elder – see Philippians 4.1 onwards for proof); it’s like inviting the sun in to transform an otherwise potentially cloudy day. It’s a mood breaker. It’s got the potential to highlight a good day. It takes the focus away from our localized situation, to the macro spiritual level. It acknowledges that our life is in capable hands.

Several years ago, I went with my nephew to the barber’s. I soon began directing how his hair needed to be styled. In no short order, the barber was obliged to reprimand me by inviting me to do my job, and allow him to complete his uninterrupted. I had no choice but compliance.

Sometimes, when we opt for the grumbles, I suspect God’s telling us; “Just bless me. For when you do, you are less prone to grumble and tell me what to do.”

It’s the same with relationships. We could avoid so much pain out we selected the adoration button in lieu of the grumbles. Adoration reminds us what we love when the going is great and especially when things go rough.

Maybe in this season of prayer, we ought to seriously go for the bless the Lord at all times challenge.

P.s.

The season of prayer never ends – remember we’re praying the prayer that never ends.

Bon weekend.

God bless you.

In Christ’s love and grace.
