Hello
How are you? Blessed without yielding to stress, I hope.
Here’s today’s nougat
And what do you benefit if you gained the whole world but lose your soul? Mark 8:36
I am not much of a tv person, but I enjoy most game shows, especially those which seem to offer real prizes. For the past two days I’ve been intrigued by Let’s make a Deal; Jeopardy and The Price is Right. I’ve been fascinated with the odds (Hope that doesn’t make me a closet gambler in your eyes); the offers presented; the actual prizes won, the hosts; and of course, the contestants themselves.
Many were performing, costumes and all, and during Let’s Make a Deal, I noted that they had to make a calculated guess to what they sought. Some made great choices, but the disappointment on the faces of others got me thinking.
Many of us are still contendersfor the eternal Let’s Make a Deal. We may even be Christians, but are suffering from a bone-deep emptiness that can only be assuaged through Jesus.
We try to fill the empty spaces with stuff; and we reason that those will satisfy. Yet somehow that doesn’t work. Using earthly stuff to address spiritual needs is an exercise in futility. That’s gaining the whole world.
However, we are offered an ongoing deal…love everlasting, even beyond this world and into the next. And it won’t cost your soul. So here’s the choice
Satisfying the flesh VS Securing the soul?
What’s it to be? Refills anyone?
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
