Hello,
How has your weekend been? I was at s block party hosted by Bronx Bethany Church of the Nazarene. Awesome. It hit the spot. Good clean fun for ministry engagement in a manner that invites the community to taste and see…
Here’s today’s nougat.
Therefore I, a prisoner for the Lord implore you to walk worthy of the vocation where you have been called . Ephesians 4:1
Sounds almost drastic. A prisoner’s request; NO, make that a prisoner’s passionate plea, to fellow “conspirators” – not to go into hiding – but to give the due diligence to and recognise the value of their life’s work and calling.
Interesting.
His reference to prison suggests that he has counted the cost, and still finds that the calling is best. Perhaps it is incumbent upon us then, to weigh in on salvation before claiming to walk in our purpose.
What is salvation worth to us, where does it fall on our life’spriorities? What defines our relationship with God? How do we water and nurture this relationship? What would we forfeit for the sake of Christ?
Salvation is worth far more than the world itself (John 3:16-17); should be first in our lives (Exodus 20:1-5); should be defined by our A-B-C acceptance, belief and confession if Christ (Matthew 16:16) and a sense of urgency that rivals the John 4 woman. Since God is our Creator, Lover and Savior, we should be willing to forfeit (let go of) everything for Christ, recognising that things are value-added AFTER we place Jesus Christ on the front burner of our lives (Matthew 6:33). And based on the value we accord to our God-relationship, we water and nurture it through continuous prayer, immersion in the Word of God, interaction with like-minded persons and undergirding this with our walk to match our talk.
Then, and only then might we begin to plum the depths of walking in alignment with God’s will, hence waking in purpose. It’s not easy, but in Christ, it is do-able.
Ready, set … let’s LIVE!!!
