Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.”. Exodus 3:10 NLT
Sending me? Really?
Is it possible that God’s forgotten why I am here on the back side of this mountain? Why I left home and all the comforts of palace life to become a shepherd, the lowliest of the low?
How could I return? Face those folks who have a bounty on my head by now? Nope.
And furthermore, I can’t talk to those folks with my stutter. It was bad enough when I was Prince of Egypt, cause my status forced everyone to be respectful then. Now I’m a nobody.
I always feared that my past would catch up with me one day, that’s why I’ve been lying low. And now YHWH wants me to face Pharaoh. Really?!
“Erm … Lord. You rrrrr-remem-menber th-that I sssssstutter! Especially when I’m nervous. And you nnnn-know that Pharaoh will NOT listen to me. Sure you don’t want to send someone else (like anybody EXCEPT me please!) Lord, you cccc-could use so many others. I only know how to lead sheep; I’m really not looking for people to lead. I’m not skilled like that. Llll-Lord!
But God equips the called, and Moses WAS PERFECT for the job. He’d been trained in the Egyptian palace, and despite his stutter, was fluent in both Hebrew and Egyptian. His work with the sheep spoke to his patience in his exile years.
He was the RIGHT man for the job.
How about each of us? Is it past failures which has birthed insecurity and self doubts within our hearts? Or is it something(s) others have tried to speak over our lives?
Have we checked to realize that the Valley of Shadows also trains us to support others? Have we also realized that the Valley of Shadows is part of the equipping and tooling the Lord has made ready for our lives so we might fulfill our purpose?
So; where has God called us to be, what does the Lord need for us to do in this time, in this season? Are we being called to liberate others?
