Hi
There’s a saying here in Jamaica, “they give you a basket to carry water”. I think the meaning is somewhat self evident. But have you ever had that feeling, as though you’ve been asked to accomplish the absolutely impossible? If not, praise the Lord; otherwise, here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10 NLT
What a joy it is to know that even when we get a holey basket to carry water our God is with us. In our fears, despite our cares, we have this solid reassurance, “No worry, no fret … Everything criss and curry” (ie “don’t worry be happy”).
Like Rumpelstiltskin or the Beast in the fairy tales, God assures us of help and support. But God is no fairy tale.
As one who has experienced God’s provision and protection in difficult times, I guarantee that God’s promise is good. The support, accompaniment, help and strength didn’t always seem to be what I expected, and sometimes I’ve been disappointed – in the moment – in God’s way of doing things. But truly, I am persuaded that ALL things work together for good, for us who love the Lord and are the called according to God’s purposes.
And when we get frustrated or feel as though the draining basket is too heavy, God understands if we pour our hearts out. In fact, God even sends the Holy Spirit to intercede on our behalf. Hallelujah! Thank God.
What an assurance as we face another year: God was with us, God is with us, God will be with us.
Thanks for making it for this Divine feast.
God bless you.
