Nougat 22

Hello my dears

How are you? I am still in the afterglow of an amazing outpouring of love and blessings. Thanks so much. Some of us might recall back in the day when ladies had to wear a slip to prevent the world from seeing one’s unmentionables. It was underwear, but also overwear. Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to get some overwear in our wardrobe also.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves in tender compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience— bearing with one another and forgiving each other, if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord pardoned you, so also you must pardon others. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfect harmony.” Colossians‬ ‭3:12-14‬ ‭TLV‬‬

Compassion – that ultra powerful, extra special under wear that transforms our outerwear. I say underwear, because it’s not always visible though it shines through the layers when and where it matters.

It is not just about throwing money to help the poor and needy; rather it invites us to recognize pain and distress and to seek solutions for transformation. It is not always about monetary needs; it may be physical (especially in cases of domestic violence) or even mental-emotional (especially in the wake of Covid-19)

One of the things compassion does is to say; ‘How can I make a difference in this life?’ Because human Compassion often remembers the experience from Calvary; when each of us needed transformation from our own mess (our sinfulness; our painful situation), when God said;

‘Not today devil. I’m dying to liberate This one, and ALL others who believe – whether they believe now or later.’

Of course, one can be compassionate without being a follower of Jesus, but it could be a natural response for us; since we have experienced it ourselves.

And finally, I’ll add, compassion is also auto renewable, and comes more easily with practice. It’s not always easy, but also comes with the sense of gratitude for making a difference. I pray that we each become more so, now that we are aware.
