Hi
One of the secrets of dressing for success is knowing the context. In that way it is easier to have the right outfit to match the occasion. Today’s Holy Nougat
sets the most important context of all:
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves in tender compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience— bearing with one another and forgiving each other, if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord pardoned you, so also you must pardon others. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfect harmony.” Colossians 3:12-14 TLV
My dears, even more important than the outfit is the need to Be You (or in my case Ne Me). But this is not quite the same as the YOLO or DO YOU trends that were popular a few years ago. Rather, THE first thing that should guide What to wear is the knowledge that, in God’s sight we are Chosen and Beloved. And that’s what sets us apart and makes us Holy.
Our works Cannot ever make us Holy. Ask Judah, Jacob‘s son. In his ‘holiness’, his daughter in law showed how dishonorable he was. Saul killed several saints in his holy zeal and Mary was called BY the angel on God’s behalf.
And if our self-acclaimed righteousness is like filthy rags (aka old clothes) to God; how much more so our personal holiness? I get the sense, it wouldn’t impress God; not one bit.
For Holiness cannot be bought or sold; it is God’s gift to us. We acquire it automatically when we allow our spirits to yield to God. Being Holy is our recognition that we are set apart BY God, FOR fulfilling God’s good work in and through our lives.
When we know that; we are ready to get dressed because that’s the layer of confidence that equips us for God’s runway. So it’s the foundation of all we do (or like the foundation before putting any makeup on: an absolute essential for flawless application of the makeup). (And if you’re doubting whether you are holy; why not invite God into your heart right here, right now –
dear Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God, that You died and rose again just for me and that You will come again for me. Enter my life please and take control, dear Jesus. amen)
So what are we waiting for; let’s get dressed; basking in the knowledge that we are loved; chosen and set apart. It’s enough to ensure our entire wardrobe fits well.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
