Sometimes we get it confused and think that WE are doing God a favor. And before you argue with me, think about our approach to compliance to God’s commands. We often do as we please. But today’s Holy Nougat™️ challenges that attitude.

““These are your instructions for eating this meal: Be fully dressed, wear your sandals, and carry your walking stick in your hand. Eat the meal with urgency, for this is the Lord’s Passover.” Exodus‬ ‭12:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Jesus said, “I have been very eager to eat this Passover meal with you before my suffering begins. For I tell you now that I won’t eat this meal again until its meaning is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”” Luke‬ ‭22:15-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Passover is God’s institution. As it was an annual community reminder of God’s saving work for the Hebrews. And that’s the thing – it (the Passover) was a one-time act of Liberation. Yet it resulted in freedom for future generations; whether born in Egypt, the Wilderness or even in the Promised Land. (And that is significant because the Hebrews born in the Promised Land were called Israel.) There was no distinction between original recipients of that covenant and their offspring. It applied to ALL.

The Good News is that Christ offers that Passover to Anyone Who Believes – Jew, Gentile, man, woman, saint, sinner, person with visible disabilities or not – we are ALL part of the new Passover covenant. And Jesus’ one sacrifice ushers us beyond this Life into the Next. Our new Promised Land: Heaven.

Can we let that sink in for a moment?

When we commemorate the Passover, we are remembering the First Passover in Egypt that was a Shadow of the Second Passover. We are acknowledging that God invites us to this event; that Life as we knew it shifted irrevocably when we accepted Christ as our Passover Lamb. We acknowledge that we are NOT in control, that it is God Who heals, God who saves us through Jesus Christ.

May that remembrance of God’s mercy, manifested through Christ Jesus offer us strength to go on, with each other, day after day.

May all we seek be found in Christ
