Nougat 5

In times like these, it is so easy to give in to the urge to get flustered – wars and rumors of war, violence, economic downturn, medical pandemics and social issues on the more private places of our lives. Hopefully today’s Holy Nougat affords us strength to overcome worry.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew‬ ‭6‬‬:‭34‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Hearing Jesus affirmation-encouragement to take it easy and worry less is either an assault on our nerves or a comfort to our souls.

To take a No Problem approach to life isn’t a matter of smoking, drinking and hanging out on the beach. Nor is it simply saying ‘Hakuna Matata’ and being uninvolved in what’s happening around us. What it means is that we realize and affirm the necessity for God to be in total control of all aspects of our lives.

Our ability to trust God to be in total control of our circumstances suggests that the relationship between ourselves and God is strong enough to withstand the storms of life. Fortunately, this usually means that we have had our own experience with God as sustenance and support.

Years ago I recall receiving an email with a ‘Message from God’, which spoke about the SFGTD Box – ie Something For God To Do. In the message, God promised to handle all the issues and problems we face, including the good things. When we get worried, we were to write it and place in our SFGTD Box. What if we were to take that approach today, recognizing that that’s the essence of Jesus’ encouraging words?

Whether it’s helping others, managing our resources, planning for the future; we can choose to give God total control. May we find the strength to trust God more and more with all aspects of our lives.
