Nougat 30

While making his impassioned plea to the Pentecost crowd, Peter references a very profound quote from David the psalmist. Consider today’s Holy Nougat

“King David said this about him: ‘I see that the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.” ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭2‬:‭25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Isn’t it ironic, we repeat Psalm 23 a lot, but many of us are challenged by this quote. So, here is a question for us “How does a person see the invisible?”

Through eyes of Faith.

And after using those eyes of Faith for a while, the invisible will become visible. I believe that if we reflect on David’s life, it is clearer. The David we meet in the Bible is many things, but I don’t think we would describe him as a wimp. Nope, he’s a tough guy who never sees anything that makes him fearful, all because he spent his formative spiritual years in the wilderness with God.

Shepherding, I’m told, is not easy fare. And in 1 Samuel 17, David says as much – he faced down wild creatures in his life time and again as shepherd. He lost his fear. So much so that he saw the 9’ Goliath as one of those creatures. His Secret Weapon – Faith. David believed God’s presence was with him and Faith had many times proven him right. He ‘saw’ God with him long before it came to the crunch.

What do we believe about God ‘sight unseen’? Or has Faith already become sight?

Having faced a disappointment or two, do we still see God with us? Peter also spoke from experience. And by God’s Spirit and God’s grace, he was able to testify to the fact that although God’s invisible to the human eye, our spirits can see God with us. (That’s Jesus, by the way). So, if we are in a sticky situation today, let’s exercise the eyes of our faith, and we will see that God’s with us every moment of our day.
