Nougat 28

So, for the most part we have accepted that we are blessed by God since the beginning of Creation. But, we’re also conscious that sin has interfered with us fully realizing that we are blessed. Are we ready for further proof of God’s blessings on us? Consider Today’s Holy Nougat

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’ Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭6‬:‭22‬-‭27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

A Special Blessing

Repopularized in the era of Covid-19, this ancient blessing has transformed so many people, by offering God’s Hope amidst uncertainty. The virtual choirs from Unis, organizations, churches, national singers and regional recording artistes literally sent The Blessing viral; a counter-virus of joy and comfort. What is so special and precious about that initiative is that it was fulfilling its original mandate. Not all who sang it may have realized, but that’s what it did.

You see siblings, there’s no occasion stamp on this blessing. Liturgically (ie from a worship preparation perspective), it’s usually placed at the end of the worship service, or included in the rituals of baptism – at least in my church. But, while these are appropriate, they are not restricted to such use only.

This blessing concludes instructions on priestly activity, particularly for those who opted to dedicate themselves in total service to God as Nazirites (You are welcome to do your own reading about such vows in the chapter). But those vows were personal covenants with God, they did not include the entire community. We are told that God then offers this special instruction – for all Levite priests ‘to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing’.

Folks, it is God Who commissioned this blessing for God’s people. With no time stamp out occasion, God commissioned the high priests to speak the Aaronic blessing over our lives. No strings, only that we receive and believe.

So as an ordained minister, I offer you this blessing today

*The Lord Almighty Bless and sustain you

May God’s joy and grace be evident in your life

May God’s Favor fulfill you in all that you engage in and fill you with God’s Peace*
