Whatever You Ask in my Name

Dear siblings

After reading Today’s Holy Nougat, I invite you to join me in prayer.

John 15:16 NIV

[16] You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

Chosen … To Bear Fruit

Let’s pray

Lord, if I’m not bearing fruit … good fruit to be precise, then I’m not in Your will. Help me realize that I’m chosen and not by accident. I’m the person You wanted to work with and through. Thank You for choosing me, for Your confidence in me, for creating me with and knowing my capacity to be fruitful. For You’ve placed me in the world, this world, in this season, and capacitated me to bear fruit.

Now Lord, I realize that there’s multiple concepts of fruit as I’m thinking about this idea of fruit-bearing. While we normally hear this as being chosen to draw others to You, I’m realizing that bearing fruit is also about bearing Your fruit, as in the Fruit of Your Spirit.

So Lord, please help me to know what fruit you desire that I bear in terms of living in Your designed purpose for my life. What is my designed calling for this season, please Lord. Reveal it to me anew so that I’m producing what You’ve called me to do and be in this season.

If You’ve chosen me as a creeper or a vine, help me help me to produce fruit in clusters. I ask Lord, that You assure me that You need my vine gifts to produce clusters so that I’m not watching other folks’ fruit. Likewise Lord, if I’m called to bear stone fruit, or fruit with pits, help me to realize your vineyard can have a vineyard may have other fruits trees, so I’m not watching what others are producing. Because if I’m bearing fruit that You’ve chosen me to bear, then I’m aligned.

But Lord, there’s also Your fruit, the Fruit of Your Spirit. For You have chosen that I should bear the entire fruit in my lifestyle, not just partial fruit. In that case, Lord, please help me to ensure that my life reflects Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Goodness, Gentleness, Faith, Meekness, and Patience. For when I’m bearing all those, in living guilt as Your chosen.

May I never forget that I’m chosen for all that and more. Thank You for choosing me to bear the Fruit of Your Spirit. Because it means I’m capable. May I walk in it all, in Jesus name amen

May all we seek be found in Christ
