Prayer Worrier

Published on

Have you ever heard of a prayer worrier? No mistake, it was what a minister said we do when we fail to leave a burden with Y’shua. That is most certainly a concept to reflect on as we consider Today’s Holy Nougat

Deuteronomy 31:8 NLT

[8] Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

YHWH, Our Escort

Joshua was aware of the special bond between Moses and YHWH. He was there, as if he was standing guard. As a young Israelite, Joshua would have witnessed first-hand the Pillar of Fire YHWH accompanying them in the wilderness. He would have had a clear idea of what YHWH meant.

Self-Check

What do you understand by YHWH will personally accompany you, and do you believe it?

Application

YHWH will personally accompany you. That most certainly would have allayed some of Joshua’s fears. If anyone questioned his right to lead or his authority, YHWH’s assurance removed all doubt. Siblings, this is a big deal! This is The Endorsement of all endorsements. This was a public warranty for success … and it had no expiry date! Moreover, it affirmed Joshua’s courage and leadership support to Moses over the years.

No, it did not mean that Joshua wouldn’t make mistakes. He did. But it signified YHWH’s presence and authority with Joshua for the cryptically as well as the seemingly inconsequential decisions. YHWH’s personal presence also meant that Joshua didn’t need an appointment with the priests to hear from YHWH.

The same holds true for us when Y’shua assures us that God’s Spirit will dwell within us and reveal God’s Truth. God’s assurance to Joshua is Y’shua’s promise – that He’s with us always, even to the end of the earth (see Matthew 28:20). And, by going before us, it means that our steps are ordered by the Lord. The ‘catch’ – we have to choose to obey. We have to chose to believe.

When God selects us fir leadership, there would already have been agreement in Heaven. The Trinity was agree that we not only fit God’s criteria, but that their leadership and accompaniment is guaranteed. It’s not a promise that died after the Exodus.

So where is God calling us to? What spaces of favour has God publicly earmarked for us individually or even collectively? Whose spiritual baton are we receiving? God assures that having chosen us, God’s Spirit is within us to guide us on the journey.

Assignment

Invite God’s Spirit to personally go with us in tangible ways. Then, we can leave prayer worrying behind and walk into the fulness of whom God’s called us to be.

May all we seek be found in Christ
