For most of us, it’s ‘Good Morning’. So today, I ask, “How did you sleep?” Fine. I hope. Have you ever thought about sleep or insomnia before?
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
On that night could not the king sleep; and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles, and they were read before the king. Esther 6:1 ASV
Insomnia. Seems to impact many of us, from the highest to the lowest.
In this case, I’d diagnose the king’s insomnia as Divine Wakefulness’. Should you read between the lines, it becomes clear later in the story that this saves the life of one and strengthens his cause. (But that’s perhaps another holy nougat, so read the chapter for yourself and the one prior)
Have you ever considered that your case of insomnia (if you’ve ever suffered through a sleepless night) might actually be divine insomnia? … God seeking your attention.
It has happened to me before, and saints! It was an eye opener. So the next time sleep eludes you, consider having a conversation with the Divine. Perhaps beginning with, ‘Lord speak. I am listening.’
