Hi there
Did you know being a braggart can bee an acceptable thing? Now to properly do that.
Today’s nougat gives a clue
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord. The humble shall hear it and rejoice. Palm 34.2
Ok. So maybe it wasn’t quite the boast you were expecting. But, that’s one aspect of Confession which we tend to overlook.
Perhaps because we’ve been programmed so often to perceive spiritual confession as being connected to sin. For me, this is just as critical an element as relieving myself of the burden of sin.
Especially since, at its Greek root confession (homologeo) speaks to professing or being in agreement with. This begs the question, agreement with whom, and for what? Spiritually, I’m inclined toward a dualistic approach … (fairly simplistic, but applicable for this reflection). We’re either in agreement with God over something; or we’re agreeing with the Devil.
Might I encourage us to consider agreement with God. In other words, or confession should reflect God’s will for our lives, i.e. our souls should make its boast in the Lord.
There is a school of thought which argues that what I confess, I possess. While I’m not 100% certain about aspects of it; speaking according to God’s will may impact us positively; ( the power of life and death being rooted in what we confess).
Remember, that as we acknowledge or sins against the One who loves us beyond life, we also need to affirm that In Christ, the sin had been forgiven and we’ve been redeemed.
What else do you wish to realistically confess today? Will it transform someone’s life?
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
