Weekend blessings to You. ..

May 9

The Lord detests the path of the wicked, but loves those who pursue righteousness. Prov. 15:9

Sometimes it is hard to accept the reality of that text, for it seems as if the wicked flourish like Palm trees and the works of their hands continue to prosper. Yet, the Teacher is very clear that God does not approve of the schemes of the wicked.

So what is our response in the face of evil acts (and there are so many to burden us recently)? What if we hate the sin; but loved the sinner? Loving the sinner means moving outside self to Pray for the Person behind the very Actions we seek to condemn. That we do not devolve to name calling or plan their demise (ouch, that’s my gift), thanking God we are not like them.

Where do I get off thinking such a radical thought, At the Cross!

Remember, while we were yet sinners, Christ Jesus led the way. In short, we got to Love Our Enemies. Not always easy, but over time … in Christ … just maybe

Dear Lord,

Today I ask for radical love, the kind that moves past the actions to the heart of the person beneath, especially when I’ve been wronged. I know is rather keep score Lord Jesus, but in you I am able to love my enemy. Take the song from my hurting heart and heal me I pray, in Jesus’s name amen.

May your day overflow with love.
