Nougat 9

Hi there

It’s been a hectic schedule and will continue to be hectic for a while. But God’s faithfulness continues to prevail. And that’s exactly the promise we receive in today’s Holy Nougat

“I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.” ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:20-22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We parrot it (verse 22) and sing it; but have we thought about it in context? The book of Lamentations is attributed to Jeremiah (the ‘weeping’ prophet). It is so designated as much of the content is lament. In chapter 3; the lament is a response to YHWH’s punishment, as the prophet has been through a lot. One senses that it has been a rough pruning season; as even homelessness was part of the process.

Having said that and poured out his pain, the prophet adds a ray of Sonshine: his experience of God’s hesed, God’s stead-fast love – before, during, and after – kept him going. Amid the trauma in the moment; he called that memory to the fore, lest he gave up. For the knowledge of God’s love was his anchor and is our never ending Hope.

God’s Love is steadfast – Jesus went the entire distance, on the earth and under the earth so that we might qualify for life beyond earth, all because of His Love for us.

God’s mercy is unending – from healing the soldier’s ear to engaging Nicodemus to redeeming Peter, you and me, God’s compassionate actions continue unabated. It’s up to us to look out for them.

You might say that these are not promises and in one sense that is true. For these are Facts. But remember, God’s promises can all be taken as fact – they are provable. The promissory element is their availability to you and me, to the whole word in fact.

So, whether we are in the throes of being punished or at the pinnacle of God’s protection, the promise remains: God’s Love is steadfast and God’s mercy is infinite. Do you believe it?, for I certainly do.
