Nougat 9

As we pray today’s Holy Nougat, may we also intercede for another.

“Mighty King, lover of justice, you have established fairness. You have acted with justice and righteousness throughout Israel.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭99‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Being recipients of God’s righteous justice is cause for us to do likewise. For sure, it is an invitation to extend to others grace ‘God’s will on earth as in Heaven.’ (Yes, this model prayer has practical elements). Timothy Keller suggests

Biblical justice requires that every person be treated according to the same standards and with the same respect, regardless of class, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, or of any other social category. In short, do unto others as we’d love them to do for us. Not always as they’ve earned, but as we would always wish to be treated.

Of course, this is the easy part.

Sometimes, it’s not us who are meting out injustice to another, but the system in which we ourselves operate. What do we do to help transform the system?

And what if we are in a position to extend mercy, will we?

How might we make the difference for someone today, bringing peace that comes from grace received?
