Nougat 9

Hi

Have you ever tried to describe God’s attributes to yourself? I’m not talking about the cliched truths – God is Love; God is merciful, faithful forgiving, and all those. Have you tried to fathom the depths of those truths? For example, “What manner of god-ness is our God?” or something like that. I believe that when our spirit begins to have those yearnings, we are on the cusp of a profoundly intimate season with God.

Such was the depths of David’s passion for God. We experience the side effects in the psalms, or join in the music of our favorite worship groups (who sometimes just add music to the lyrics of the psalms) and for many of us, ‘a it dat’ (we’re done – our duty is complete).

What if today we were to seriously consider the god-ness of Almighty God? Beginning with today’s Holy Nougat

“Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.”

Psalms 36:6 NLT

For those of us familiar with neither mountain nor ocean, consider the vastness of the plains where you are and multiply by infinity to grasp the majesty and power that accompanies the descriptors. Then switch them and use your own. For us who know the vastness and power of water systems and or mountains, what image is painted for you?

When the profound holiness of God is like a mountain, do we realize that we only see a bit of it? And the same applies to how God administers such holiness and maintains such in God’s jurisdiction. I pause, for even as I consider; I am conscious that as righteous as God is, God loves me. I think sometimes more than God is willing to effect judgement for my wrongs. And that applies to all of us! I am just astounded by God’s god-ness!

As you marvel at the awesomeness of God’s attributes today, enjoy the beauty of nature all around us!
