Having asked to be anonymous, it was disconcerting for her to find that she felt sidelined by the non-attention she received. He truly didn’t wish to be gushed over; but a word of thanks/honorable mention?! They tripped over themselves to ensure that folks were beholden to them for even the tiniest bit of help.
Hi
Does any of that sound (uncomfortably) familiar? If so, perhaps you might require prayer to soften today’s Holy Nougat?
“For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.” John 12:43 NLT
Unfortunately, this applies to too many of us in the faith. We are preoccupied with success on this current plane, in this sphere rather than that which truly matters. Found striving for the fanciest – house, car, phone, material items – getting a thrill/high from schmoozing with the who’s Who; ensuring that we see and are seen only with the ‘beautiful’ people.
But what does it profit us to be reknowned for material and perishable while being at enmity with God? Sometimes we even rationalize it. Success has its merit. But not at someone else’s expense!
And sidelining God comes with its own peril, even if it seems innocuous in the moment.
There is Good News for those of us who have messed up! God is merciful and will honor every plea for forgiveness! We only have to say, “Lord I have been unfaithful to You and taken You for granted. Forgive me please” and God will have mercy.
So let’s get to it
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
