Here in Tanzania, we have begun to unpack the meaning of the cost of discipleship. Although salvation is free, discipleship invites an investment from each of us. What does that look like for you? Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
In all, forty-eight towns with the surrounding pastureland will be given to the Levites. Numbers 35:7 NLT
Within the early Jewish tradition, Levites were not allowed to own property. Subsequently, provisions needed to be made on their behalf. This was rooted in the understanding that they were dedicatedto serving in the temple and only in the ministry unto God. They were also selected as redemption for the firstborn children of Israel.
Nowadays, this does not wholly ensue, as Jesus IS our Redeemer. Additionally, there are some who are serve in full time capacities outside of the worshiping community. When however, there are persons who have dedicated their lives to the needs of the worshipping community on a full-time basis (as minister/pastor/laity; let us consider how we might offer viable support. For; a worker is worthy of the hire.
In cases where there may be dissatisfaction with the person’s ministry; let us consider how yo speak the truth in love as we consider God’s approach to effecting change.
Now thks does NOT legitimize a laissez faire approach to ministry on our part as full-time ministry workers. For though we work alongside humans; we are accountable to God. In one moment of anger, and missed entry into the Land God promised the Israelites. Let us not miss the mark.
So in the final analysis; on the matter of ministry we give unto God; whether as workers or one who offers resource support (cash or kind).
The time for us to enter the Land God has promised is nigh. How will or stewardship be judged?
