Hi
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
All circumstances!
God’s Will!
Not the easiest phrases to process on a good day; but even more off putting on a bad day.
Thanksgiving is not always natural for the human heart. We get sidetracked by arrogance, fear, envy, pride, or even forgetfulness in the moment and somehow giving thanks is less and less our priority. But do you know/remember the song ‘Thank You for walimg me this morning’? It offers thanks for some of the little things. Always a great starting point for us.
But what about the not so simple’s? When ‘life’ has offered us doozies – like sickness, failure, divorce, disaster, firing/unemployment, you name it? Can we see God at work and even arrive at thanksgiving when the doozy is disappointing? And, seeing God’s prints, are we able to genuinely give thanks? I confess – it’s not so easy for me.
And I believe that’s where transformation and renewing come in. For, even Job, for all his faithfulness- succumbed to despair during his trials. It requires more than our natural selves to accept God’s will when we cannot see the immediate outworking for our good in terrible circumstances. It is the work of God’s Spirit.
This matter demands an intimate relationship with God. Beyond the superficialities. Beyond mere logic. Into the realm of faith; ‘let this cup pass by; nevertheless; Your will takes priority … [and I praise You in advance for the outcome].’
Rejoing Always. Recognizing God’s will. Walking in grace.
Lord help us
Good morning
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
