Greetings,
A blessed day to You and may have, rest and peace be ours
Here’s today’s nougat.
In these lay a great multitude of sick people: blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. John 5:3
It sounds a little closer to fairytale than biblical narrative, there being healing waters for the sick and infirm, just within the outer gates of the temple.
But then, this definitely ensured that if one fell ill on the way to worship, there would be no cause to contaminate others with one’s uncleanliness. Plus, it made for a clear reminder of God’s healing powers.
Healing was random at the pool. Kinda like miracles are in church today. They occur, but not nearly often enough. Nor do we share with others when we do receive our miracle. Why? Jesus appeared at that place of healing, zeroing in on one heart’s cry. Perhaps he’s waiting to zero in on one of us: sick, blind, lame, or paralyzed.
Are we ready for the moving of the water?
