Hello,
I trust that you are well and are doing fine where you are. If not, remember we have an Advocate who journeys with us through the toughest of trials.
Here’s today’s nougat
Give us the bread we need for today. Lk 11:3
A recent conversation with a friend had us both thinking about manna, trust and greed. In thinking through the escapades of the Hebrew children in the wilderness, it is easy to conclude that they were being greedy when they kept extras, despite God’s instructions. Some of us might even be inclined to say they deserved the weekend which greeted them in lieu of manna the next day.
But what if …
They were just making certain they had a contingency plan … “You can’t pack too much food when traveling through the wilderness you know”. You know. Just like how we have our contingency stash in case of storms, hurricanes, death or other disasters. Which makes a whole lot of sense …
Unless God told us we only need to make preparation of one day’s food. Then it becomes crunch decision time. Do we stockpile a little suppm-suppm or leave it up to God? After all, God’s only been in the provision business forever.
Do we trust God enough to make provisions for our needs always, every day; or are we ready for a free fall in faith?
Lord please help us to remember that asking for our daily bread means we really want to depend on You and not be the pilots of our lives. It’s scary Lord, especially when we see the gourmet fare our neighbors possess. Teach us to believe when you say seek You first and everything we need will follow. Give us the bread we need for all we face today dear Lord, in Jesus’s name amen
