Nougat 8

Published on

Hello everyone

How has your this week been? There’s two days left, so there’s still room for it to be awesome, if you need. Just you ask my Lord.

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 NLT

Yesterday’s reflection saw some interesting feedback, and this verse was part of the conversation.

One thought was,, if God provides rest from our burdens, doesn’t God ensure that we get nothing more than we can bear?

Might I suggest that

A: God never gifts is with burdens, although it is part of our lot

B: What God does offer/gift us with, is burden-swapping. We VOLUNTARILY give our burdens to God; God gives us rest.

C. Rest from trials and burdens is OUR CHOICE. We decide whether we wish to confess that we are burdened or heavy laden (some of us think worry is a spiritual gift, so we’re not interested in the exchange).

D. Losing the burden doesn’t require too much; we only need to appear before God.

Come means come. We have been given carte blanche (I.e. unlimited access) to God’s Throne of Grace when we feel burdened. No strings attached. No conditions to be met first. We go to God, God gives rest.

First, we must acknowledge that we are burdened. Then, how much we can bear is not the question, whether we can bear is not the question; rather it’s WHO bears it that matters. And that’s what makes for awesome.

So, how’s your week going; is it time for you to do a burden-swap to make your week awesome? Hmmmn. All you have to do is is approach God.

Thanks for joining me in this divine gourmet feast. God bless you.

Have an awesome burden-swapped week!

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
