Nougat 8

It was one of those days. Not THOSE DAYS those days. Rather one of thoooose days. Armed with reflection from the devotion I read; I committed to doing things God’s way. I was on a prayer roll. Yup, it was going well.

Until my suitcase tripped me. And since it required more care, I watched my way and got slightly off track. No worries; I caught myself and continued praying. Then I heard some sounds, I was almost scared and I remembered – I’m praying; so I just need to pray for protection.

That worked. I was back to praying and asking God to use me today. Except that when I got to the airport, the person ahead of me wouldn’t move her luggage fast enough; so I felt obligated to ‘help’ her – albeit with a glare to remind her others needed to move, even if she didn’t. I caught myself and changed the look on my face; and her thanks to me was to put someone before her in the line!

Like – Really?!

That one took a little longer to recover from but again – Christian charity.

Right. On it Lord!

A little progress made. The line for security got congested and I positioned myself a few paces ahead of my spot in the queue. In the hustle forward as I justified my (rather unnecessary) rush; I heard today’s Holy Nougat like a whisper in my ear –

“So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate.” Romans‬ ‭7:14-15‬ ‭NLT

Busted!

All that; was me trying to do life in my own strength – God desires us yielding to God’s Spirit, so we don’t succumb to our fleshy desires. Maybe when I get that grafted on my spirit, my auto-love response to God will be different. Until then, I pray for sensitivity to the move of God’s spirit on my (our) hearts.

Ever had one of thoooose days?
