Nougat 8

Squatting has been a serious problem in many communities. Especially if not addressed from the early stages. Most of us humans have a squatting problem too, where thoughts take residence in our minds, making room for words and deeds that ought not be part of our lives. But, there’s an antidote, as we can see in today’s Holy Nougat

“Crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What’s between You and me, Yeshua, Ben El Elyon? I’m warning you, in the name of God, do not torment me!”” Mark‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭TLV‬‬

Seriously! The demons are directly negotiating with Jesus! In every version, it is the same, they speak through the young man, attempting to protect their turf. Except that the turf they claimed was theirs already had a human soul LIVING in it. A soul that belonged to that body.

Us humans are not like hermit crabs which outgrow a shell and exchange with another. No. Not at all. (If so, many of us would have traded out the bodies we have centuries ago, and not relied on Botox and liposuction.) And if we live in the one body, then it means we ought to have jurisdiction over it – and, by extension, what enters in it.

The fact of demonic possession as outlined here says that the norm had been disrupted and they (the demons) had no desire to be relocated. Jesus’ arrival threatened their security. For they were obliged to occupy a body. And it seems several of them could do so at any given time, whether in thoughts or in fact and deed. In this young man’s case, there were thousands!

We note that the young man spoke to Jesus in respect to the demonic spirits within. This suggests that sometimes what we see or hear of folks acting outside the norm (committing themselves in illegal or other action), may be genuinely from an external influence. That is, by virtue of what we think and or do, or even watch, we open our bodies to unwanted tenants that do not wish to adhere to the Spirit of God in our lives.

Further, I note that when in the presence of Jesus, the demons were tormented. They recognized Jesus’ authority and acknowledged Jesus as the Son of God (Ben El Elyon). Regardless of what happened at the Trial and Crucifixion of Jesus, those demons possessing the young man were very aware of what Jesus could do to them. With just one command from Jesus, the demons were facing eviction with no place to squat.

And Jesus carries the same power in our time. The power to ‘torment’ demons, to destabilize them and remove them from the body they are squatting in. Mine, yours, anyone else’s.

We only have to ask Him

We will be obliged to forfeit some of the attitudes and mindsets with which we had become comfortable. Those create gateways to the squatters. And squatters such as those are hard to evict. But when we decide to evict the squatters from our bodies that would urge us to operate outside of God’s will – thoughts, mindsets, or actual demonic forces, let’s us remember Jesus is ready to help us through the process. Let’s call on Him right now.
