Timing, they say, is everything. And that is true. The qualifier would be, ‘Whose timing are we following?’ Consider today’s Holy Nougat™️

“Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” Ephesians‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

One of the first considerations offered to the saints then and now is the need to operate in consultation with God’s Spirit. So much so that action outside of consultation with God is deemed thoughtless.

Have we ever made important decisions by first consulting with God?

No, not with a friend who may/not be hearing from God; but actually speaking with God first. And what was the difference in outcome and in the sense of spiritual wellbeing we experienced in relation to doing our own thing?

This is not to suggest that for every single minor decision we ought to spend considerable time fasting and praying. Rather it is an invitation for us to work in tandem with the Spirit of God. Further, if we have been faithful to praying without ceasing, our thoughts would automatically seek alignment with God’s. (A quick reminder that praying without ceasing is an act of faith – ie; being mindful of God’s presence always and making our actions their own prayer)

Are there decisions pending, which were made thoughtlessly, ie without God’s input? It is probably not too late to rectify that oversight.

Are we attempting to be more intentional in including God but are not sure we’re on the right track? Might I propose that we first attempt to articulate what we need clarity for.

Then, like Hezekiah, we place the situation before God (2 Kings 19).

We also might remind ourselves that every prayer offered to God becomes sweet incense before God’s throne (Revelation 5:8). Yes, God is anxious to receive our prayers.

May I also remind us that Prayer is a two-way conversation. So when we bring an issue before God, we ought not already have determined God’s input. (Far often when we take something to God, our real motive is to get a rubber stamp response, and not God’s actual input. I suspect that that is also thoughtlessness).

Then having placed the situation (issues) in God’s hands; we wait. For God’s timing is always best.

God will grant revelation for our next steps.

I pray us clarity in hearing from God.

May all we seek be found in Christ
