As most of the world celebrates Mothers, I thank God for my mother, specifically chosen for me. May God’s blessings be with you this day and always. I pray God’s grace for empty hands, empty rooms, and empty wombs – of mothers who have conceived and lost, delivered and lost, raised a child and lost. Heal hurting hearts Lord. May the crown of joy be with all mothers this day and always. Extra special shout out to You dear God, for being Creation’s first mother – from conceiving and forming, feeding and protection. May Your name be blessed always dear God.
And so we pause to reflect on today’s Holy Nougat
“With every bone in my body I will praise him: “Lord, who can compare with you? Who else rescues the helpless from the strong? Who else protects the helpless and poor from those who rob them?”” Psalms 35:10 NLT
One of the most beautiful images of God is of a hen protecting her chicken, for we know that a hen places her chicks in between the folds of her wings. That space offers protection from predators and the elements all around. And that’s what we praise God for. The gift of feeling God’s heartbeat also underscores that we are familiar with the fullness of God’s love for us.
We celebrate God’s love that seeks us out even in danger. We praise God that there is no one stronger, wiser or more loving; for that guarantees our rescue every time we are ensnared. We praise God’s patient deliverance each time we need to be rescued and seek forgiveness each time we fall out of alignment.
May we recognize God’s gentle grace and sustaining strength that restores us to full humanity. We bless the Lord our God!
