Nougat 8

It might feel like flogging a dead horse. Or singing to the choir. Because many of us have conquered our fear issues and can’t imagine why the others of us won’t get sorted (the choir); while there are some of us still traumatized from the initial fear, that nothing connects (the dead horse). But some of us are somewhere in between. We still have a few fears to face – without the debilitating trauma response.

In any case, I hope you will find some good nutrition from today’s Holy Nougat

“When they saw him, they thought he was a ghost. They were terrified and started screaming. At once, Jesus reached out his hand. He helped Peter up and said, “You surely don’t have much faith. Why do you doubt?”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭14‬:‭26‬, ‭31‬ ‭CEV‬‬

Why Doubt God?

The children’s song says, ‘Why worry when you can pray?/ Trust Jesus, He will lead the way/ Don’t look to Doubting Thomas/ Put your faith and trust in Jesus/ Why worry, worry – when you can pray!/

(Don’t worry if you knew different words, I don’t always remember them correctly). It is most apt. But it doesn’t really address when we worry after we pray, does it? And since worry is not a spiritual gift from YHWH God, we can ditch it.

I know, I know. Peter took a while to ditch the worry. The disciples all screamed out in terror. That’s worry.

None of them considered that the person who walked atop the water might be Jesus.

But did you realize before the Nougat that Jesus’ comment was primarily directed at Peter; and not the others? In fact, they only returned to the boat after Jesus rescued Peter. I missed that fact a few times.

My siblings in Christ, that says to me we can be in the very presence of Jesus and still worry, be fearful or perturbed about Life’s storms. When Life starts Lifing, we might say all the good things, but still hold on to the lie that tells us we’re drowning! Until we look up to Jesus and truly see Him ready to save, it is as though we are still drowning in a rickety ship turned pendulum.

What say we truly release the fears to Jesus?

Today we cast our cares on You Who care for each of us. You know what triggers we face and how far we can walk on water before we get panicked. We release our fears in exchange for Your Love. Thanks for healing grace dear Jesus, amen.
