Greetings
A most painful thing just occurred. I prepared the entire nougat and, having selected the entire document, touched the wrong key. Even the scripture was omitted. And there’s NO Undo button! Hmmmmm. In all things give thanks …
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
In fact, James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co-workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews.
Galatians 2:9 NLT
While it is not critical to God’s call, confirmation of our ministry by those in authority is always affirming.
Paul was no exception. In his instance, it was helpful for establishing Paul’s credibility.
For some churches, this affirming act involves the laying on of hands in prayer in a public ceremony. This informs the wider body that we have been set aside for (a select) ministry. That is important, but does not mean that we have not each been called to minister for the Lord. And God will reveal it. It’s just a matter of time.
In this new season of our lives, might I implore us to tune into God’s plan to prayerfully discern the next role? We might be amazed at what we’re next called to, and with whom.
In Christ
