is a reminder and an invitation to believe. Enjoy
““But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last.” Job 19:25 NLT
What a confident statement! Having lost everything, having his friends all but forsake him, Job was still able to proclaim praises to God. Such was the measure of Job’s faith; it kept him in the face of adversity.
I suspect, based on the description, rather – the introduction of Job as a devoted follower of God – that this firm conviction didn’t come overnight. It flowed from a lifetime of ongoing relationship with God. (Job 1-2 gives a sense of the Faith that later sustained him). He knew God. He might not have understood his experience but he had NO doubt about God’s immanence (God’s tangible and sustaining presence in earth). For the record, Job’s era was long before the arrival of the Messiah, yet he believed. And his Faith was rewarded when his Redeemer vindicated him and later restored multi-fold ALL that was lost.
If we were to take a leaf from Job’s life; we should opt for the abiding Faith that sustains even in the face of adversity. His Faith ‘sees’ God at the time God seems absent. Our Faith has to be so deeply rooted that in a world marked by Chaos, Crisis and Coronavirus; we may offer Christ – Crucified, Risen, Ascended, and now Interceding for us. That sounds like the work of a redeemer.
Our Living Redeemer!
I urge us all today, to catch our Redeemer at work – For us, With us, Within us, Through us and Around us. And when we do, I pray we’ll boldly declare, ”I know my Redeemer lives and that He WILL stand on the earth at last!”
Christ is risen!
Hallelujah what a Savior!
