Nougat 7

One of the challenges many of us face as Christians is admitting our guilt before the Lord. For some of us, we cannot face the reality of being imperfect; for we’ve built up our own stories about ourselves, especially after accepting the gift of salvation. Others of us feel that we don’t need to confess sins, because Christ has already absorbed our sin. In other cases, we are also unconscious of wrongdoing, sometimes and miss the opportunity for redemption. And there are those of us who seem to think we will break out in hives if we humble ourselves to accept responsibility for our actions.

What is ironic is that we often carry over our attitudes to our relationship with God, and are surprised to even consider that our spiritual lives are at risk. Especially when we can (and have) justify our actions.

The fact is Sin is sin is SIN; and God is offended, turned off even, by sin.

When we replace God with self, others or objects – making them the point of our direct and implied worship – Sin.

When we lie, fudge the truth or mislead others to save our skin – Sin.

When we destroy another’s character, even when we think it’s warranted, and often without them being able to defend themselves – Sin.

When we fail to see the needs of others, especially when wasting that which God has blessed us – Sin

When we diminish others, deny them basic human rights and dignity; even when society deems it acceptable – Sin

And of course, there are countless other ways that we sin daily.

When convicted, or even when we can’t pinpoint it, there’s hope. We confess our wrong and claim the truth in today’s Holy Nougat

“Wash me thoroughly from my guilt, and cleanse me from my sin.” Psalms‬ ‭51:2‬ ‭GW‬‬

May we find the courage to pray these words earnestly. Amen
