Nougat 7

A command is given by others with expectations of it being fulfilled. How do we treat with Christ‘s commands? Today’s Holy Nougat offers a reminder of the second most important commandment.

““I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so also you must love one another.” John‬ ‭13:34‬ ‭TLV‬‬

This thing called Love.

It has the potential to transform lives in the here and now, as well as the future.

In Love, God stripped the skin of an animal to create a temporary cover for the sins of Adam and Eve.

In Love, God marked Cain to protect him from human retribution for his sins

In Love, Jacob worked for 14 years to earn Rachel’s hand in marriage

In Love, Ruth opted to serve her mother in law and not remain in Moab.

In Love, Mary said Yes to God’s Spirit and bore the Messiah, despite the social implications

In Love, Christ completed the journey of Redemption God started with us; facing a criminal’s execution ; conquering death that you and I may also overcome

In Love, Christ empowers us with God’s Spirit that we might do Greater Works in His name

In Love, blind received sight, prisoners were released and the Gospel preached to the ends of the earth

In Love, the husband ought to protect his wife – even unto death … (but not by his hands!)

In Love, God’s church flourished; despite opposition and setbacks, and continues to flourish (albeit hesitantly in some places)

In Love, Christ will return for the Loving and Beloved …

Love covers the nakedness of sin, protects from evil, goes an extra mile, serves the vulnerable, obeys God’s commands, fulfills God’s purpose, makes the sacrifice, empowers, restores, heals, delivers, perseveres and delivers, flourishes and invites others to prosper; and most of all – takes us back to Christ.

Let us, who have experienced True Love in Christ Jesus, share Love today. That’s what we’re commanded to be.
