It’s interesting to think about the things we share with others. We share intimate details of our lives, feelings about others (good and bad), our fears, hope, and aspirations for the future. There’s something else that we ought to share, and many of us aren’t very consistent about doing so. It’s sharing about our relationship with Christ. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat.
1 Corinthians 11:26 CEVDCI
[26] The Lord meant that when you eat this bread and drink from this cup, you tell about his death until he comes.
A New Covenant 6
So, as with every covenant, there are terms. The terms clarify what each party in the covenant is expected to do, basically under oath. With blood covenants, the one who breaks the covenant faces death. Failure to keep our promise to Y’shua ought to result in our death. Except that immediately after making the covenant with us, Christ died for us. His blood already covered our guilt. He became our contingency clause.
Self-Check
How do we respond when folks break covenant with us? What if God did likewise?
Digging Deeper
So the terms Christ established for Himself is also the contingency. His life was literally offered in exchange for ours, because the consequences (wages) of our sin is death. But the covenant gift of God is life forever because of Y’shua (see Romans 6:23).
Having explored Y’shua’s terms for Himself, and accepted them; we must examine the terms for us. Ours is multifaceted. They are
Acknowledgement
Acceptance
Commemoration
Telling
We acknowledge that the bread and wine are symbols of Y’shua’s body and blood. We accept our role in His death, that He gifted us His life for our sins. In commemorating Him, we remember Y’shua’s sacrifice and remind ourselves of His great love for us (see John 15:13). We didn’t deserve it, but He offered Himself in our place from the moment we chose to disobey (see Genesis 3:9-15 and Romans 5:8).
As hard as Christ’s death is to accept, there’s great news.
He rose!
Y’shua is risen!
Having conquered death (the ultimate consequence for sin), Christ rose; creating access to Heaven once again for us. All we have to do is accept His gift. (Remember – that’s why we agreed to participate in His covenant!) And, having accepted, He asks us to tell others that He’ll return for us one day. That’s what it means for us to tell about His death until His return.
Siblings, it’s a few actions on our part. But we get to practice through our lifestyle. Knowing all that the new covenant offers, we live in freedom from death. And the joy that accompanies this lived freedom invites others to come see for themselves. When we live wholly for Christ, our actions tell others about our covenant with Him.
Point to Ponder
Do our lives reflect the new covenant we signed with Christ?
With whom do we need to share Y’shua’s gift?

May all we seek be found in Christ
