Hello
We continue to reflect on the ‘donut’ text for today’s Holy Nougat
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 NIV
I had overdone it. Burning the candle at both ends and in the middle; teaching practice morning shift, regular teaching afternoon shift, then rushing to get two buses and a walk before catching my two courses for my diploma Monday to Thursday. On average, my day began at 7:30, and ended at 9:00 pm, not including prep in the morning or making my way home from classes. I was exhausted! (And still am just thinking about it)
But I figured It was only for a short while, so I pressed on. One afternoon, the day my teaching practice ended; I conducted shift devotions. I stood at the podium, presented my reflections and prayed. While praying I began to feel woozy. I cried desperately to God in my mind, ‘Lord please please let me…’ – I never finished the plea.
In what felt like slow motion, I started sliding to the floor! I never made it to the concrete. Someone reached for me and I was lifted and taken to the staff lounge, nearby. It wasn’t God’s visible right hand, but it felt like it.
That’s one way God literally upheld me. I know that the same God who prevented my fall when I overdid it is the very same God who keeps me from drowning, falling or failing. Someone was sent to accompany me and keep me going. Usually without being asked.
God has, is and will be upholding each of you also. It’s why we’re still around. And since it’s a promise, we can always cry out to God for help. For God is less than a prayer away.
Do not despair; Our God will uphold and strengthen us!
Good morning
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
