Nougat 7

Greetings

Have you been trying to understand God’s Word and it seems like gibberish? Or been seeking God’s face, and felt that you’re the only one not getting through? Don’t worry, you’re in good company!

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™

Then, leaving the crowds outside, Jesus went into the house. His disciples said, “Please explain to us the story of the weeds in the field.” Matthew 13:36 NLT

The disciples were not clear about Jesus’ parable.

And yet they waited until alone with Jesus to ask for interpretation. Why?

Could it be they did not wish to show their ignorance in public? They were fairly recent students of Jesus, would it be so embarrassing to be ignorant?

Or was it that they perceived that if Jesus spoke in riddles, he was not seeking to be understood? And if so why? Why would Jesus hide truth or information from the masses?

Isaiah 6 speaks to the prophet speaking to a hard headed generation, and being instructed by God that what was spoken would be as though he chose to speak in riddles. A prophetic word about Jesus perhaps? Hmmmn

What is most critical in this scene is that the disciples DID ASK Jesus to explain what he had taught.

Many of us have seasons when we don’t understand the ways of actions of God. It is my belief that we are called in those instances to spend some alone time with God, seeking God’s direction and God’s face. We are told that after wrestling with the angel all night, Jacob pressed on for God’s blessing. Could it be that God’s desires us to contend or press on for God’s wisdom and guidance?
