Nougat 6

Good morning

Today’s Holy Nougat is a call to pray. May we be caught praying wherever we are.

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians‬ ‭6:18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

To pray in the Spirit is most often described as praying in tongues (unknown languages). It is however, also a reference to praying with our hearts and minds ATTUNED to the leading of God’s Spirit. Whether in tongues or not

The fact is God desires us to be praying for ourselves and for others with an intentionality that requires our attention being focused on God. And that presupposes us being open and available to the move of God’s Spirit. The Greek for ‘spirit’ used in the nougat is ‘pneuma’; which provides the root for breath or air (most literally current of air according to Strong‘a); which thus implies that our very breath that creates sound when we pray ought to be The Breath of God.

Note further that this is not a one-off situation. No. Nor is it a recommendation to consider. Rather, it is a directive to be followed at ALL times. So each time we pray we are supposed to pray as led by God’s Breath (of Life) upon us.

Those moments when someone ‘crosses our minds’ … is God’s Spirit calling us to pray for the person.

The moments when we feel down and can’t even find someone with whom to speak … that’s an invitation to pray IN God’s Spirit

The moments when work, school, family life, friendships are threatened … yet another time to pray in God’s Spirit

The great moments in life … why not celebrate and place them under the security of God’s Spirit, even as we share with others?

We pray for those believers who we know, as led by God’s Spirit; and also for those we know not. We pray for God’s revival of the Church in trying times, and for those losing hope or facing persecution. We pray for colleagues and friends, for the faithful and the faltering, for our families and even our foes that all may be subject to God’s Spirit.

I pray today that we all are yielded to the move of God’s Spirit in our lives.
