Nougat 6

Have you ever received a gift and not used it wisely? If so, how did you feel about it? Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to think about our Gift from God.

“He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.” ‭‭Titus‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

In all His earthly blessings given to those who He met, Jesus was always generous. In fact, many miracles showed surplus; persons received all they needed and then some. We should not be surprised to find that it is the same with the Gift of God’s Spirit; the Gift that we have each received in abundance. How are we receiving this Gift?

Acts 2 recounts the outpouring of God’s Spirit, and described the impact as being similar to a mighty rushing wind. What we might have missed in the transliteration is that the ‘rushing’ effect of the wind made visible the invisible by way of the sound it carried. In short, the presence of this out-poured gift of God’s self as Spirit, ought also to be visible in our lives. And, since we have more than a bit-sized portion of the anointing (ie outpouring of God’s Spirit), we don’t have to watch how much we engage at a given time.

That being said, and with the greater grasp we have of how God’s Spirit functions, can you imagine the impact we could have in the world if we ‘combined forces’ in using our Gift? We might not be the replica of the Acts church; but our reach on Christ’s behalf can be just as great. Part of what marveled the visiting Jews in the temple was that ordinary people were manifesting speech, that was wondrous to them and became a sign of things to come. That they could and several did become.

Given the abundance of God’s Spirit each of us has received, our greatest actions for God’s glory can be greater. And, in the course, we can turn the enemy’s plans upside down – at least in our spheres of influence.

God’s Spirit is not a gift to be hidden or kept to ourselves. Let’s not ignore or waste the Gift.
