For today’s Holy Nougat to be more impactful, it requires us to do somethings
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 NIV.
It’s interesting to note that as children of God we are often focused on the do not’s, yet we missed these two : Do NOT fear, Do NOT be dismayed/distressed. What’s that about?
God could only have meant this for back then right? It’s certainly not applicable for us today.
Actually it is.
God is still offering us Love, Power and Sound Mind (2 Timothy 1:7) as the antidote to fear. And, Jesus echoed the accompaniment promise even after His resurrection (Matthew 28:20; John 20:21-22). For, if we receive the Commission as a call to service for us, then the promises also apply.
Going back to the original promise, we note that God does – actually says – a few things in conjunction with the Do Not’s:
– I am with you
– I am Your God
– I will strengthen you
– I will help you
– I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
WOW
So when our brain accepts that God is God (and God alone!!) then fear and dismay ought to be diminished (even eradicated) from our psyche. For, our God accompanies us through the Valley of Shadows; strengthens us for the task before us; helps us figure our way out of the distressing issue and gives us support to stand up when our feet would fail at the enormity of what we face.
What are we asked to do – believe that God means this; and overcome fear and dismay/distress by focusing on the promises.
