Good morning
What time is it where you are? Have the clocks been turned back already, this week, never? The joy is, no matter what time it is when you read this, Our God is right on hand to keep us going. What joy!
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
But Jesus replied, “We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too. That is why I came.” Mark 1:38 NLT
So there He was, the Subject of egg bones attention especially those who were stock and infirm. More so, those who were asking for the gossip. (Yes, I believe that some aspects of community formation haven’t changed!) Rather than become overwhelmed or even risk potential burnout, Jesus disappears for a bit.
His disciple missed the critical need for Sabbath rest and the reality of observing one’s boundaries. As God, it would be perfectly fine to keep working. But a Divine principle had already been established – God established Sabbath rest from the Creation plan, offering us the chance to rest and restore.
I believe that as we walk with Jesus, and especially when there are visible manifestations of spiritual gifts, that we also have a responsibility to be good stewards.
That includes:
- Recognizing our gifts and purpose
- Walking in and using our gifts for God’s glory
- Being open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance for the Who, What, Where, When and How of ministering
It’s okay if we haven’t grasped it all as yet, provided we recognize that we operate in God’s strength, God’s timing, and God’s purpose.
What time is it now? Time to continue working? Time to rest? Or time to pull up stakes in anticipation of the next ‘town’ awaiting our specific gifts and skills? Whichever the True answer, it is DEFINITELY time to seek God’s face.
