Have you ever read minds before? In earnest I mean, not as a gag. Well, I have not; except for games with my sisters. But there are people so gifted and I usually wonder whether it’s a challenge for them to invest fully in Christ. Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.” 1 Corinthians 2:11-12 NLT
The fact is, even with our best psychic, supernatural powers, we don’t understand God or God’s Spirit. Not in our own self anyways. For our selfish sinful nature cannot begin to comprehend total and all-encompassing Love. The Love that creates humanity with God’s nature and forgives us when we fail to live up to our ‘factory specs’.
One might argue, ‘but that’s what Creatives do’ and I would agree partially because with as many humans existing today, I certainly would have given up a long time ago. Or gone back to the drawing board. Not many creatives would have continued with the broken versions when there’s scope to work with Perfection, in Jesus Christ. Especially with Perfection having the exact nature of one’s self.
But God, seeing humanity, knowing what we’d get up to; blessed us humans; gave us partial control and put a rescue plan in place for when we mess up. And we do. In loud and embarrassing ways; in quiet and negligible moments. But mess up we do. And each time we do, Jesus awaits us to cleanse us off and restore us to oneness with God.
I can’t fathom such Love. And I am not worthy of such Love on my own. But grace. God’s grace through Jesus Christ allows God’s Spirit to dwell within us so that we might be worthy of such Love. Our ability to respond positively to such Love is in the Spirit of God. The same Spirit that translates such love in ways we can appreciate.
Still not understanding? Ask God’s Spirit to come and break it down one more time. Until then, let’s praise God until our spirit aligns with God’s
