Last evening, we crossed the threshold into yet another high Holy season on the Jewish calendar; the festival of Sukkot, the Feast of the Tabernacles, also called the fear of Joy. This is the season of Thanksgiving which lasts for seven days. It recounts the blessings of God to the people of Israel during their Wilderness Wanderings and offers yet another instance to be in praise for God’s many mercies. In consideration of the many scriptures which slide to God as our Refugee and Shelter, we recognize that we all have cause to be gathered in praise. Consider also today’s Holy Nougat™
So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith. Galatians 3:9 NLT
We share a common heritage. We all are partakers of God’s glorious provision, especially in our Wilderness seasons. Our Faith is the glue which unites us, empowers us to recognise the fruition of the promises of God which are to come; though in Christ already here.
While we might not be living in shelters/tents for the duration of this festival, we are also conscious that there are many who live in tents; not in celebration of Sukkot; but because they have limited options in their current situation.
We are thankful for the wonderful blessings poured out for us, and today we remember those who are unable to sense God’s protection and provision in their Wilderness Season.
Abba Lord,
We praise You and adore You. Thank You for the gift of Joy with which You’ve blessed us. We celebrate Your Ultimate coverage over our lives, the blood of Jesus, which not only cleanses our sinfulness but also protects us from the arrows, the fowler, the snare, the pestilence.
Continue to deliver us from the Evil One and keep us in Your Secret Place where Your Love, Grace and Peace abide freely. Fill us afresh with Your Joy which strengthens us on life’s journey. May our Attitude of Gratitude permeate the atmosphere in which we sojourn today and beyond.
