Hi
I remember someone explaining what a ‘Meh’ moment is. It’s kinda what it sounds like, not necessarily great, and sometimes angst-influenced. But even in our worst case scenario, God is. And in today’s Holy Nougat, we are reminded why that’s so reassuring.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 NIV
God works ALL things for good! Not some things, not some times but ALL things, God’s way IN God’s timing. And that’s the rub right there. It is not always easy to wait on God’s way or God’s timing. It is even harder to yield to God’s plans when it seems that God’s plan is not about working things out NOW.
Many a frustrating day we have spent getting worked up over things we cannot change in the natural world. Especially when the situation has already happened. But what if we tried a different approach – what if we were to put the situation before the Lord, requesting direction on the way forward? Could we do that? It demands the release of control (that wasn’t ours in the first place!!!), over to God.
For some of the issues, God may even pass them back to us, with guidance on the way forward. There are yet others where I think God is saying, ‘Just trust me.’ In those instances God seems absent and we may feel frustrated and alone. I don’t think God is surprised by that. It is natural (part of our human nature). But we can’t stay there. We might need to dig deep under the Word to the Source of our Peace, Jesus Christ himself.
We might also have to remind ourselves of who and Whose we are. For when we remember that we Love God and are the called, we can find hope. Of course, it is helpful if we have already established the mutuality of trust. Let’s not forget that we are operating according to God’s purpose and not our own;
So there we are, figuring our way by our dependence on God. It is doable, so in that next situation; let’s do it.
P.s. as we pray today, we place Jamaica’s general election in God’s hands; knowing that it too, will work to God’s purpose.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
