Greetings my dear
I pray you well. Sometimes life gets overwhelming as that which is coming at us never seems to let up. We are not alone. It’s happened with others before us as indicated in today’s Holy Nougat
“The messengers returned to Jacob saying, “We went to your brother, to Esau, and he’s also coming out to meet you—and 400 men with him.”” Genesis 32:7 TLV
Can you imagine your thoughts if you were in Jacob’s shoes! This was his twin brother whom he had wronged twenty years prior. And, instead of a one-on-one reunion; it seemed Esau was ready for war!
But things are not always as they seem to be; as Jacob will later discover. Although Esau was coming to greet him with a small army, Jacob had two advantages. He’d had enough servants and livestock to split them in three groups – he could thus have set up an ambush if needed. But more importantly, he had God, and the favor of both their parents, on his side.
Operatively, the battle was stacked in Jacob’s favour. The thing is – we tend to operate IN the visible realm without giving much thought beyond the moment. Moreover, Jacob had seriously wronged his twin. He’d stolen his blessing after already scamming him of his birthright. It was accountability time!
I suspect that that’s the word for each of us today – to recognize the need for accountability for our actions. Whether it was deliberate or a minor infraction, we ought to take responsibility and make amends where possible.
So let’s not get sidetracked by the hosts coming at us; whether persons or projects that seem overwhelming at this time. Rather let’s ensure that we build relationships, knowing that God Who is with us far outweighs anything against us! Every time.
Things are not always as they seem.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
