Nougat 4

Hello dear

Have you been keeping abreast with the news; or has it been a challenge to navigate the news spaces? Many plans have been uprooted, others have found new plans coming to the fore. And amidst all this, we may wonder if we are still on track. Today’s Holy Nougat urges us to keep focus on God and God’s promises to us.

“Then God said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Be fruitful and multiply. You will become a great nation, even many nations. Kings will be among your descendants! And I will give you the land I once gave to Abraham and Isaac. Yes, I will give it to you and your descendants after you.”” Genesis‬ ‭35:11-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

And Jacob finally came FULL Circle. Yielded and ready to walk into what God had promised. Nearly thirty years later, Jacob gets back to where he had that first vision of God; and he made the conditional pact with God.

How many years has it been since you and I made that bold step to trust God and be led by God’s Spirit? And how many detours have we encountered along the way? I am reminded of my friend, Ziba, who cried out to God for years, and finally hears from someone’s lips the answer to her plea. Of other saints who received their own prophetic words, (like Que who was told launch out; and more than 10 years later began to see success) who managed to keep hope alive despite what seemed to be a forever delay.

Some of us, if we are going to be honest, lost hope a few times but pressed on out of obedience. We lost faith and have been going the basics. And while Covid-19 has pushed us to wake up; we probably still aren’t living our best lives. We may even be doing all the right rituals; but are feeling spiritually off-kilter. To us I say, take heart – God’s plan for us is is still being fulfilled. For God hasn’t said it is over.

Jacob’s story continued, with him being less of a schemer than before. And when we get back to Bethel, so will ours. Crises and crosses WILL come, as they have (probably) done already. But we know that our story has a true ‘happy ever after’ ending when we are invested in God. Me and you.

Will we; rather – Do we – trust God enough to wait?
