Hi

What would you pay top dollar for? And what influences you in doing so?

The value of an item is often related to its resalability or its perceived usefulness to someone. In some cases, it’s value is related to its personal impact on the future owner, who previously/currently owns the item; or who is the original craftsman. In many cases, when an important person decides that something is valuable; others are willing to follow suit. Food for thought as we consider today’s Holy Nougat

“For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:20‬ ‭NRSV‬‬

So…

Do you know how much you are worth? The nougat suggests that we are worth much to God. How did God factor in our worth; you say – well look at the second phrase. ”Therefore glorify God in your body.” It suggests that God is The One who owns us. That we are bought for God’s good pleasure. And, if that’s the case, then just by virtue of our being God’s; our value has skyrocketed. For God owns us, and as Creator/Ruler of the heavens and the earth; God is powerful beyond measure.

We know that God is not only powerful; God is important: God is our original Craftsman AND when we carry the Manufacturer’s Seal; our value is beyond measure. Unlike stained glass windows, our value does not diminish when others work on us. In fact, being tarnished by others’ work on us – body, mind and/or spirit – has influenced a proportional increase in our re-purchase value. God’s love, desire and passion for our broken selves is such, God became human and died so we could be restored to our true value.

The irony is, the other who seeks to own us is very strategic. For, rather than acknowledge our true repurchase value (more accurately, to acknowledge that we are NOT for (re)sale); the one who seeks our lives and our spirits tries to convince us that we have No Value! And the enemy of our souls does that systematically by highlighting our sins and flaws and then insisting that we are not good enough for God’s repurchasing. But that is a barefaced lie.

The enemy of our souls KNOWS that in raising From Death Into Life Beyond Death, Jesus secured our repurchase. We each have access to Eternal Life! Some would call it immortality. And that gives us value not only in this lifetime but forever beyond. We literally are Priceless!!!

So, now we have been reminded about our true value; do we dare live our lives as ones bought and paid for by God’s grace? Body, mind and soul – YES !

May all we seek be found in Christ
