“Are we weak and heavy laden? Cambered with a lot ad of fear?
Precious Savior still our refuge –
take it to the Lord in prayer.”
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.” 1 Peter 5:8-9 NLT
In addition to donning our armour, it is critical that we remain prayed up at all times. To me, prayer is the well-known, oft-ignored, multi-purpose secret weapon as we contend against the enemy of our souls. Prayer keeps us connected with God; opens the way for reinforcements and keeps our armour war-ready.
Connection with God
This is where the direct strengthening of our faith is facilitated. When we pray, there is an automatic connection to in the heavens. In the Lord’s Prayer, we note the call is for God’s will being outworked simultaneously in earth and heaven. Of course, we realize that this is direct communication with God in Jesus’ name.
Further, we will find that as engaging in prayer increases, our relationship with Jesus is also strengthened, which also increases our ability to withstand the enemy. Let’s not only resolve to pray more; let’s pray more.
Reinforcement
In Daniel 9, we learn that the prophet had an issue which was being blocked by the devil’s minions. Fasting (abstinence from food and drink) and prayer was Daniel’s daily portion for 21 days. He discovered what happened and received his breakthrough after the season of prayer. That passage confirms that we have access to Godly reinforcement when we pray; even, rather especially when there seems to be a delay. The battle is not over when the lion prowls; it ended when Jesus rosé from the grave.
War-readiness
Hence, we also pray to ensure our spiritual armour is war-ready. Truth, Jesus has already overcome the devil. But, the devil hopes that we have not yet realized that. For if we have not realized, we won’t focus on Jesus; for fear of the already vanquished foe. Our armour then must be firmly in place, so whenever or wherever the enemy attempts to pounce; we are covered.
So
Helmet assures we’re saved by God’s Grace
Breastplate keeps us righteous in Christ
Girdle protects us with God’s own Truth
Boots prepares the path of the Prince of Peace
Shield covers us by our Faith In Jesus Christ
Sword defeats the enemy with God’s Word
We stay alert; we remain armed and faithful; In Jesus Christ and for His glory. And that’s why we remain steadfast in prayer even when we are on the alert for the enemy’s next move. For Jesus is still our refuge; come what may.
