Nougat 4

I remember feeling very accomplished in guessing the brain teaser – ‘if two’s company and three’s a crowd; what are four and five?’ But that answer wa not what prepared me for the mystery of today’s Holy Nougat

“For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

One might even argue that it’s a ‘no brainer’, meaning the answer is sooooooo simple. For where two or three are gathered, it’s enough. Enough to warrant the Spirit of God spending time to listen and then to be in agreement with the two or three. And you know when something has been agreed on by God’s Spirit, ain’t no power to change that!

Isn’t that why there’s the saying ‘How can two walk unless they agree? (Amos 3:3) And Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 encourages the collaboration between two people; through mutual understanding of their purpose. And the most magical, encouraging mystery is attached to the end of the passage for it suddenly shifts from all the benefits of two people working in tandem; to the strength of the three-stringed cord. I have concluded that the third strand of the cord is the person and presence of God’s Spirit.

And that’s the joy, well the beauty of our nougat. It’s an attestation to the power of agreement. Particularly the prayer of agreement. When we, under God’s guidance, are united about an outcome or a request, God’s Spirit is present.

Of course, this also reminds us to be conscious and conscientious about what we say in public; whether it’s just two of us talking or more. For if God’s Spirit is awaiting what we’re saying to transform it to life and truth; we want to ensure that God’s Spirit is pleased with the content of our conversation. Is it what God’s Spirit would actually want to affirm?

In our lips rests great potential for life or death by the Spirit’s power. What shall we birth or bury today?
